GEOMETRY
Within an academic school, Fuller would be rightly considered first and foremost as a geometer. Synergetics (1975), Fuller's major contribution to science, is a profound meditation on the geometrical structure of reality. Fuller felt he had discovered Nature’s underlying coordinate system in contradistinction to the XYZ coordinate system of Descartes. In his view, the tetrahedron, octahedron, and icosahedron encompass “the whole phenomenology of structure of Universe” (The World of Buckminster Fuller).
